Le Marin is first and foremost a working port reinvented as Martinique's sailing capital. The Marin marina, among the Caribbean's busiest, sets the tone: here people prepare crossings, repair yachts, discuss weather. The town has kept a functional, authentic feel that neighbouring beach resorts lost long ago.
November to April remains most pleasant, with steady trade winds and little rain. Two to three days cover the town, the Saturday morning market and nearby coves like Anse Figuier. Rent a vehicle from Fort-de-France rather than rely on infrequent southern buses. Don't stick to marina restaurants: prices are calibrated for European yachtsmen.
