Shingle beach at the northern tip of Loch Ness, reachable from Inverness in 20 minutes and mercifully free of the tour bus crowds that descend on Fort Augustus. The Dores Inn sits just behind the shore, serving a proper pint with views across the loch — the proper way to spot Nessie.
