MAP · OVERVIEW
Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is a peninsula wedged between Villefranche and Beaulieu-sur-Mer that has managed to remain discreet despite a well-established reputation as a haven for the wealthy since the 19th century. The pace here is slow, the alleys uncrowded, and the coastal path offers sea views without negotiating crowds. The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, with its themed gardens, remains the principal cultural reason to stop.
The best period extends from May to June or September to October, when prices fall and the beaches breathe. Two days suffice easily, even one if you come from Nice by bus (line 81, frequent and inexpensive). Avoid concentrating your visit on Plage de Passable on an August weekend: you'll see only parasols.
