What to see in Cinque Terre ?
24 places curated by Hozy - landmarks, nature, hidden restaurants and activities.
MAP · OVERVIEW
Cinque Terre comprises five villages clinging to Ligurian cliffs where sea and vineyards have shared dominion for centuries. Vernazzo and Manarola capture the essence of the region: narrow alleys, painted boats, the scent of pesto and dried anchovies. This is not a stage set; it is territory shaped by generations of fishermen and viticulturists who carved terraces into rock.
The best period runs from mid-April to June, before tourist flows render the paths impassable. Two days suffice to connect the villages by regional train, the most honest way to move about here. Avoid buying the Cinque Terre Card if you do not genuinely intend to walk: the coastal paths are often closed for maintenance and the card loses all worth in such circumstances.
